রাসূলুল্লাহ (সা.) বলেছেন: "আমি তোমাদের ব্যাপারে যে জিনিসটির সবচেয়ে বেশি ভয় পাই, তা হলো ছোট শিরক।" সাহাবীগণ জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, হে আল্লাহর রাসূল! ছোট শিরক কী? তিনি বললেন: "রিয়া বা লোকদেখানো আমল।" (মুসনাদে আহমাদ: ২৩৬৩০)

সুফিয়ান আস-সাওরী (রহ.) ও সালাফগণ নিজেদের নেক আমলগুলো এমনভাবে লুকিয়ে রাখতেন, যেভাবে মানুষ তার পাপ লুকিয়ে রাখে। অথচ আজ আমরা দান-সদকা, ওমরাহ বা তাহাজ্জুদের জায়নামাজের ছবি ফেসবুকে স্ট্যাটাস না দিলে স্বস্তি পাই না। ইবাদতের মূল সৌন্দর্য হলো তা কেবল রবের জন্য গোপন থাকা।

সাওবান (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, রাসূলুল্লাহ (সা.) বলেছেন: "আমি আমার উম্মতের কতক দল সম্পর্কে অবশ্যই জানি, যারা কিয়ামতের দিন তিহামার শুভ্র পর্বতমালা সমতুল্য নেক আমলসহ উপস্থিত হবে। কিন্তু আল্লাহ তা'আলা সেগুলোকে বিক্ষিপ্ত ধূলিকণায় পরিণত করবেন।" কারণ হিসেবে তিনি বলেছেন: "তারা যখন নির্জনে থাকত, তখন আল্লাহর হারামকৃত বিষয়গুলোতে লিপ্ত হতো।" (সুনানে ইবনে মাজাহ: ৪২৪৫)

আজকের যুগে আমাদের হাতে স্মার্টফোন আর বন্ধ ঘরের একাকীত্ব সবচেয়ে বড় পরীক্ষা। মানুষের সামনে আমরা যতটা পরহেজগার, নিজের ফোনের ব্রাউজার হিস্ট্রির কাছেও কি আমরা ততটা স্বচ্ছ? ইমাম শাফেয়ী (রহ.) বলতেন, "যখন তুমি একাকী থাকো, তখন আল্লাহকে সবচেয়ে বেশি ভয় করো, কারণ তিনিই তোমার একমাত্র দর্শক।"
